PARENTS REFUSE PAY DAUGHTER’S POLY SCHOOL FEES BECAUSE SHE’S WORKING PART TIME

Help with parents refusal to pay school fees

Advertisements

I have a friend, whose parents refuse to pay for her poly sch fees, as they state she is working. But even as she works part time, she struggles to afford the sch fees, having to borrow money if she is unable to.

Is there anyway to help? (FAS doesn’t apply as her parents earn more than that)

  • Go talk to the school and see what options they have.
  • Your friend is local? Her PSEA should be able to cover some semester. I assume she’s under 21?
Anyway your friend should speak to her mentor to explore options.
If nth works out, can consider going to a nearby FSC/SSO and tell them the situation. I’m not a lawyer but my understanding of Women’s Charter Act S68 and S69 5(c), her parents are still required to provide for her if she is unable to make ends meet while in education.
  • That’s what happen to me too, although is my parents that is unable to sponsor me with poly sch fees as they are poor. I went for a bank loan with DBS and asked my older sis to be my guarantor, although u’re consider in debt but u wont be struggling to pay sch fees every 6mths. I worked part time every weekend and holiday to give myself allowance for food/transport.
