According to the media release, a part-time helper was caught red-handed for stealing money from her employer on multiple occasions. The incident happened at Block 459 Yishun Avenue 11.
According to the employer, they had engaged a woman for her service through an advertisement posted in the lift of their block. They were charged $80 for 4 hours of her service to clean their apartment.
However, the employer noticed that they start losing money after they have engaged the woman for her service. In the beginning, the employer thought that they might have misplaced the money. As time goes by the situation became worse and more money goes missing. The employer begins to suspect the helper for stealing and decided to set up a trap to catch her.
On 22 May 2020, the employer had prepared a total of $800 in a different denomination and place it in his handbag in his room when the helper is around. All the money was marked beforehand. Just before the helper left for the day, the employer went to check on the money and noticed that $400 was stolen. The helper admits of stealing the money after the confrontation.
