A dead body was found at the foot of a HDB building at Block 91 Henderson Road yesterday (23 September), less than a year after another life was lost at the same block back in December.
Eyewitness Accounts
According to a resident residing in the block, the deceased had fallen from height at his block.
He said that there was a crowd at Block 91 while he was returning from work on the afternoon of 23 September, with the commotion raising immediate concerns.
And although he couldn’t get a clear view of what was actually happening because of the crowd, he saw police officers at the scene, indicating that something serious had occurred.
As the news of the incident spread through the community, more details emerged, thanks to eyewitness accounts and photos shared among residents.
A Grisly Image
A photo of what appeared to be the dead body of the deceased lying motionless in a pool of blood at the bottom of the block was sent to the resident at about 3.09pm from a neighbour.
Another object that resembled an umbrellas was also seen beside the deceased.
The resident’s neighbour, who had sent him the photo, said that his child had witnessed the grim scene and was so shocked that he ran back home to ask for help.
Understandably, this incident had deeply affected the young witness, who then called the police to report what he had seen.
The infamous blue colour police tent was also seen set up at the foot of the block to shield the deceased’s body from public view, as a gurney used to transport dead bodies was also being set up by the police.
Official Response
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they received a call for help at about 3.05pm on 23 September and officers were activated to Block 91 Henderson Road.
Upon their arrival, SCDF paramedics pronounced the person dead at the scene.
