Mr Diwana who lives at 590A Ang Mo Kio Street 51 was falsely accused by his neighbours for growing cannabis. The plant which was suspected was actually a lady’s fingers plant which was aided by an LED light to help the plant grow.
The leaves of the lady’s fingers plant is similiar to the leaves of the cannabis plant. And with the purple LED light, the neghbours became even more suspicious which led to the misunderstanding. Concerned neighbours called the police but the police confirm that this was only a misunderstanding.
Mr Diwana stated that : “Last week a policeman came and said that a neighbour suspected him of growing cannabis and called the police, so I had to explain to the police that I was growing lady’s fingers outside the house, not cannabis. “
The purple fluorescent lights are similar to those used in growing marijuana in their home, so it is believed that neighbors misunderstood the situation that he is growing marijuana before reporting it to the police.
Mr Diwana further explained that the leaves of the lady’s finger plant are actually very different from cannabis leaves, and if neighbors went directly to him, he would have explained it to them clearly.
