Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on Monday (26 March) that every public housing town and estate in Singapore will be a good one for Singaporeans, no matter which HDB town they live in.
He said that the government promises all Singaporeans that HDB flats will be a valuable nest egg for their retirement.
PM Lee was speaking during a groundbreaking ceremony for Chong Pang City on 26 March, showing the integrated development in Yishun that will be completed in 2027.
PM Lee also further added that Singapore’s public housing system works, and no matter the popularity of the towns, residents can expect every estate to be “well-planned, well-appointed, well-maintained”, and that “your property values will reflect that.”

Joined Nee Soon residents at the groundbreaking ceremony of Chong Pang City this morning.
This is a major project to build a new integrated community hub that will house community, social and leisure activities in one convenient location.
When completed in 2027, residents will enjoy a host of facilities such as rooftop swimming pools, a gymnasium, fitness studios, wet market and a hawker centre.
Chong Pang City is just one example of what we have been doing all over Singapore – building Housing & Development Board estates with up-to-date amenities to meet the needs of residents, and progressively redeveloping older estates to rejuvenate the neighbourhood and infrastructure.
This is our promise to Singaporeans: no matter which HDB town you live in, your flat will be a good home for you and your family, and a valuable nest egg for your retirement.
A lot of hard work and planning has gone into the development of Chong Pang City. My thanks to all the grassroots leaders, volunteers, agencies involved, and residents for making this a reality! – LHL
