Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong shared on his Facebook page about how Covid-19 has been a stern test for the Government and said that he is proud that despite the ever evolving situation, the public service which worked closely with the political leadership managed to respond with swiftness and resilience.
He also spoke about the key takeaways from the whole experience which is to anticipate and plan ahead as well as preparedness for making tough judgement calls.
He added that the Government can also improve the way that they organise and operate so that they can do better in future similar situations.
Lastly, he thanked Singaporeans for supporting the Government and policies which have been set out and also mentioned that public service leaders will continue to work hard together with the political leadership to continue to build this trust and to make Singapore’s future brighter.

“COVID-19 has been a stern test for the government. I am proud that despite many twists and turns, the public service responded swiftly and resiliently, worked closely with the political leadership, and did its best to stay on top of the situation.
Earlier today at the Administrative Service Appointment & Promotion Ceremony, I spoke about the key lessons from our COVID-19 experience – anticipate and plan ahead, and be prepared to make tough judgment calls.
Still, we must improve the way the government organises itself and operates, to do much better next time. This is essential for us to meet future challenges in a troubled and uncertain post COVID-19 world.
My thanks to Singaporeans for trusting the government and cooperating with all its policies and measures during COVID-19. Public service leaders will continue to work hand-in-glove with the political leadership, to build upon this reservoir of trust and bring Singapore into a brighter future.
