PMD CAUGHT FIRE @ EUNOS HDB CORRIDOR, BURNED TO A CRISP

Earlier today a fierce fire occurred at an HDB corridor at Blk 1 Eunos Crescent. The incident happened at about 3.05 pm, SCDF was alerted to combat the raging fire.

Upon SCDF’s arrival, part of a corridor on the 7th floor of the block was engulfed in flames. SCDF extinguished the fire using a fire extinguisher and one water jet.

About 30 residents from the affected block were evacuated by the police as a precautionary measure. There were no reported injuries.

The leftover of a Chao Tah PMD

Preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire indicates that it was of electrical origin from a Personal Mobility Device (PMD) that was charging shortly before the occurrence of the fire.

LTA encourages all PMD owners to use UL2272 certified devices. When purchasing a PMD, look out for the UL2272 Certification Marks.
