A speeding Personal Mobility Device (PMD) rider in Singapore has gone viral online after a bizarre accident in Punggol left many netizens both shocked and amused.
The incident, which was captured on video and uploaded to TikTok, showed the rider zooming across a road without slowing down before unexpectedly losing control moments later on an otherwise empty pavement.
The footage, originally shared by TikTok user “@nixonteo”, quickly spread across local social media platforms, with many Singaporeans debating reckless riding behaviour, road safety, and the growing issue of dangerous PMD use in heartland estates.
The clip began with the PMD rider speeding out from one side of the road as a vehicle was turning nearby. The rider allegedly ignored traffic awareness and continued moving at high speed, causing the driver to sound the horn in warning.
Witnesses online pointed out that the rider appeared to take little notice of the surrounding vehicles, sparking criticism over irresponsible riding habits on public paths and roads.
Rider Suddenly Wobbles & Falls Despite Empty Pavement
Only seconds after the near-miss with the turning car, the same PMD rider was seen travelling along a nearby pavement.
In an unexpected twist, the rider suddenly appeared to wobble before completely losing balance and falling onto a grass patch beside the walkway.
What made the moment even more surprising was that the pavement appeared entirely clear. There were no visible pedestrians, obstacles, potholes, or objects blocking the rider’s path.
This caused many viewers to joke that the fall was “self-inflicted” and avoidable.
The person filming the video could also be heard reacting to the incident, with the clip’s caption later reminding viewers that “it’s important to watch where you’re going”.
The viral video has since reignited conversations in Singapore surrounding PMD regulations, active mobility enforcement, and pedestrian safety in residential estates such as Punggol.
Singapore Netizens Mock Reckless Riding Behaviour
Many Singaporeans flooded the comments section with sarcastic and humorous responses after watching the clip.
One commenter joked that the rider had encountered “the small pebble of justice”, while another said the pavement itself “rejected the illegal e-scooter”.
Others found it hilarious that the rider only seemed to react after hearing the vehicle horn moments earlier.
Some netizens also questioned how someone could fall on a completely empty path, especially while travelling in a straight line.
At the same time, a few commenters highlighted the serious side of the incident, warning that speeding PMD riders could easily injure pedestrians, elderly residents, or children if similar behaviour continues unchecked.
Singapore has tightened PMD rules in recent years following multiple accidents, fires, and complaints involving reckless riders. Enforcement operations and stricter mobility laws were introduced to improve public safety, particularly in densely populated neighbourhoods and Housing Board estates.
Although no injuries were reported in this particular incident, the viral clip has once again placed the spotlight on responsible riding behaviour and safe use of personal mobility devices in Singapore.
