Dr Chee Soon Juan posted on Facebook that he was helping the Bukit Batok residents collect signatures to be delivered to the Jurong-Clementi Town Council, for a sidewalk to be built in their neighbourhood.
This was so that the residents won’t have to walk “on the road with passing vehicles” anymore.
He was collecting signatures at a void deck of Block 192 Bukit Batok West Avenue 6 at 2pm.
The Police have since released a statement saying that they were made aware of a “case-based event to be held by Dr Chee Soon Juan”.
They warned that “organising or participating in a public assembly without a police permit is illegal and constitutes and offence under the Public Order Act”.
JRTC also said that they would “study the feasibility” on the issue of the sidewalk being built and that they will update the residents “in due course”.
