POLICE DRAGGED 50 METERS AFTER DRUG ADDICT TRIED TO SPEED OFF

A drug addict who is wanted by the Narcotics Bureau was intercepted by the traffic police while driving and using a mobile phone.

The drug offender was worried and he speeded up and escaped, causing the traffic police to “hang on” to the car door and drag him for about 50 meters. The female passenger who was in the passenger seat was thrown out of the car.

According to trial on 4th of January 2020, Azhar Bin Amin (37 years old) was intercepted by traffic police when he was using his mobile phone while driving in Geylang.

The 37-year-old face a total of 14 charges which includes reckless behaviour causing injury to others, endangering the safety of others, taking drugs, transporting drugs.

The defendant was already caught before for drug offences in 2016 and required to report to Police station and submit urine samples regularly.

The defendant said that he intends to plead guilty, the judge adjourned the court till 22 Jan 2020.
