86 people are currently being investigated by the police for allegedly breaching safe distancing measures on 4 separate cases, the perpetrators are aged between 20 to 58.
The police’s preliminary investigations revealed that people allegedly gathered to socialise with liquor and public entertainment provided without a valid license.
An office unit along Pemimpin Drive was raided on 25 February, 8 men and 7 women were allegedly drinking, smoking and singing inside when the police arrived.
They were aged between 21 and 38.
A 38-year-old man who is believed to be the unit’s operator, along with 3 other men who were believed to have been the group’s “lookouts”, are being investigated for offences under the Public Entertainment Act and Liquor Control (Cupply and COnsumption) Act 2015.
Another shophouse unit was raided on 1 March; where 12 men and 7 women were caught drinking and singing in the unit.
They were aged between 21 and 39.
The operator of the unit is also being investigated for offences under the Public Entertainment Act and Liquor Control (Cupply and COnsumption) Act 2015.
Yet another office unit along Jalan Bukit Merah was raided by police on 13 March, where 5 men and 6 women were seen drinking, smoking and singing in the unit.
The unit’s operator is like his predecessors, also being investigated for offences under the Public Entertainment Act and Liquor Control (Cupply and COnsumption) Act 2015.
Finally, on the 18 March, an office unit along Ubi Avenue 3 was raided; 17 women and 18 men were found drinking and socialising inside.
A 22-year-old man who is believed to be the operator is being investigated for offences under the Public Entertainment Act and Liquor Control (Cupply and COnsumption) Act 2015.
Investigations into the 4 cases are still ongoing.
