Apparently, the officer was found bringing confidential documents home. He had also taken his colleague’s equipment without asking and threw it away. It is unclear why the officer committed the act.

The incident happened on 17 Oct 2015 at 4.30 pm, the officer entered a police vehicle and found his colleague’s equipment in the vehicle. He then took the device for himself and threw it in a dustbin later on.

He then gives a false statement stating that he did not see the equipment. He tried to push the blame to his colleague making her the scapegoat. The truth was uncovered only when the officer decides to come clean on 21 Sep 2016.

According to the law, for the act of mischief, the officer could be jailed for up to 2 years and fined. As for giving false information to a public servant, he could be jailed for up to 1 year and fined up to $5,000.
