The Singapore Police Force (SPF) recently shared that they have been sending SPF officers to walk the ground in a bid to educate the public about scams.
In their latest post, the SPF shared that Community Police Officers from the Jurong East Neighbourhood Police Centre, Senior Staff Sergeant Siva Prasath Pillai and Sergeant Low Si Jia Amanda have been walking the ground and reaching out to residents in the area about scams and the dangers of falling prey to them.
They also worked with cadets from the National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) at Jurongville Secondary School to reach out to elderly residents.
17 cadets from the NPCC played their part by engaging with about 20 residents from Yuhua Constituency via video call.
Emphasis was placed on the fact that the community also plays a part in scam prevention and anyone can become a victim of scams.
Here is the post by the SPF
“Community Policing Officers such as Senior Staff Seargeant Siva Prasath Pillai and Sergeant Low Si Jia Amanda from the Jurong East Neighbourhood Police Centre, have been walking the ground and reaching out to residents to warn them about the perils of scams.
House visits are one of the many ways the Police educates the public about scams.
The officers also work with other members of the community, such as the National Police Cadet Corp cadets from Jurongville Secondary School, to reach out to elderly residents to raise awareness on scams.
Any person can be a victim of scams. The community plays an important role in the fight against scams by keeping ourselves informed of the latest scam variant and spread the message to our loved ones.“
