The infamous incident reportedly took place on 7 April at about 8.25pm, on the green-coloured East-West MRT line.

Speaking to Mothership, SMRT said that they were alerted to the incident showing the man with his face mask pulled down below his chin and smoking from the vaporiser.

SMRT said that they take a serious view of such behaviour that affects the safety of others, and they added that they strongly encourage their commuters to keep their masks on at all times in compliance with the prevailing safe management measures and safe commuting guidelines.

The current safe management measures dictate the wearing of face masks in enclosed, indoor areas; such as inside MRT cabins.
