POLICE WARN OF FAKE NEWS “8 Y.O GIRL KIDNAPPED”

According to the Singapore Police Force, a post stating that an 8-year-old girl was kidnapped in Singapore is false.

The post stated that the girl was shopping with her family and went missing.

Here is what the Police said:

The Police are aware of posts circulating online claiming that an 8-year-old girl was kidnapped during a visit to shopping malls in Singapore with her family on 2 Feb 2022.

The Police would like to clarify that the claims made in the posts are false. The Police did not receive any information of any person being kidnapped for the period stated. We also found articles of similar content involving other countries circulating online.

The Police take a serious view of such false claims that cause public alarm. The Police would like to advise members of the public not to participate in the spreading of unverified information and to be responsible when posting or sharing any information online.
