A popular Chinese TikToker has sparked outrage and debate with a series of scathing comments about Singapore, labeling the city-state as “backwards” compared to China. The influencer, who has a significant following on the social media platform, made six key points to support their claim, which have since gone viral and sparked a heated discussion online.

Firstly, the TikToker argued that Singaporeans are overly reliant on credit cards and cash, whereas digital payments are the norm in China. They claimed that this reflects a lack of progress in Singapore’s payment systems.

Secondly, they asserted that Singapore’s e-commerce industry lags behind China’s in terms of logistics speed and variety of goods available. According to the TikToker, China’s e-commerce platforms offer a wider range of products and faster delivery times, making them more convenient and appealing to consumers.

Thirdly, the influencer claimed that in China, it is possible to purchase goods from all around the world, whereas Singapore has limited options. This, they argued, is a significant advantage that China has over Singapore in terms of consumer choice and accessibility.

Fourthly, the TikToker pointed out that same-day delivery is a common feature in China, but is hardly found in Singapore. This, they claimed, is a reflection of China’s more advanced logistics infrastructure.

Fifthly, the influencer argued that China has almost fully transitioned to 5G internet connectivity, whereas Singapore’s internet connectivity is weak. This, they claimed, is a significant disadvantage for Singapore in terms of technological advancement.

Lastly, the TikToker noted that while China has made significant strides in promoting electric vehicles, Singapore still relies heavily on petrol and diesel cars. This, they argued, reflects a lack of commitment to environmental sustainability in Singapore.
