
The 34-year-old PRC tourist Tan Kai traveled to Singapore to play the casinos but ended up losing everything and did not even had enough money to buy a return air ticket back to his motherland.
The defendant traveled to Singapore in January last year and encountered the COVID-19 pandemic and extended his stay there. He stayed in the casino during the day and slept in a public place at night.

So he started a “business” online, selling rooms at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, and listing the contact information of WeChat and WhatsApp. Those who are interested should contact him. Since he does not have a bank account in Singapore, he asks the buyer to transfer the money to his friend’s account and then asks the friend to transfer the money to him.
However, he would receive the money and go back into the casinos and gamble, non of the victims received their hotel rooms.
The defendant Tan Kai pleaded guilty to three counts of cheating today, and the other eight were considered by the judge when he received the sentence.
The judge sentenced him to six months in prison.
