Woman Allegedly Uses Clothing Store Fitting Room as Toilet, Then Threatens Shop Owner After CCTV Goes Viral
A clothing store owner in China’s Shandong province says she was left stunned after a customer allegedly used a fitting room as a toilet before quietly leaving the shop.
The incident gained widespread attention after CCTV footage from inside the store was shared online, showing the woman entering a fitting room and remaining inside for more than 10 minutes.
Adding to the controversy, the shop owner claimed she later received threats from the customer after publishing the surveillance footage.
Customer Spent More Than 10 Minutes in Fitting Room
According to Chinese media reports, the woman entered the clothing store while holding her stomach before casually browsing a few pairs of trousers.
She then walked into one of the fitting rooms and stayed inside for over 10 minutes.
After leaving the fitting room, she quickly exited the shop without informing staff of anything unusual.
When the owner later returned to the fitting area, she reportedly noticed a strong foul odour and discovered human waste inside the fitting room.
Shop Owner Says Sofa and Fitting Room Were Left Soiled
The owner claimed the fitting room had been left in an unhygienic condition, with the store’s fabric sofa also stained.
She also alleged that used tissue paper had been stuffed into gaps in the sofa, apparently in an attempt to conceal what had happened.
Although she cleaned up the mess herself, the owner said she became increasingly upset afterwards.
She explained that she would have been more understanding had the customer informed staff or apologised, but instead the woman allegedly left without saying a word.
CCTV Release Sparks Legal Debate
After the CCTV footage was uploaded online, the shop owner claimed she received threats from the woman, including warnings that the store would be vandalised.
The incident has also sparked debate over whether publishing surveillance footage without a customer’s consent could violate privacy rights.
According to a lawyer quoted by local media, while releasing CCTV footage without permission may raise privacy concerns, the customer’s alleged actions could also expose her to legal liability.
The lawyer added that the shop owner may be entitled to seek compensation for cleaning costs and damage to property resulting from the incident.
The unusual case has since gone viral across Chinese social media, with many users expressing disbelief over both the alleged behaviour inside the fitting room and the reported threats made afterwards.
