A 43-year-old worker was struck by a falling steel plate at a BTO worksite at Hougang Avenue 3 and died on 12 March.

The worker was employed by Chang Hua Construction.
The steel plate was supposed to be installed to strengthen the trench, and the incident happened at the Hougang Olive BTO project.
The worker was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and he later died from his injuries.
One other worker suffered injuries after trying to block the steel plate with his hands, and he has since been discharged from hospital.

This latest incident is the 5th workplace related death this year.
