What was supposed to be an urgent motorcycle journey to hospital turned into an unexpected roadside delivery after a pregnant woman in Vietnam gave birth before she could even reach the maternity ward.
The 25-year-old woman from Thai Nguyen province reportedly began experiencing sudden labour pains and realised there was little time to spare. Her husband quickly put her on his motorcycle and headed towards the hospital.
The situation was so urgent that the couple reportedly did not have time to properly prepare for the journey. They left in a rush without even putting on footwear, hoping they could reach medical professionals before the baby arrived.
Baby Arrives Before Couple Reaches Hospital
However, the baby apparently had other plans.
Before the motorcycle could complete its journey, the woman unexpectedly delivered her child. By the time medical workers came forward to assist the couple outside the hospital, they discovered that the newborn boy had already emerged and was partially trapped inside his mother’s shorts.
The extraordinary scene was reportedly captured on video and subsequently circulated on social media.
Footage from the incident showed the barefoot woman standing on the motorcycle’s footrest as medical workers gathered around her.
Healthcare workers reportedly instructed her to remain standing temporarily to avoid accidentally placing pressure on the newborn while her husband carefully helped her get down from the motorcycle.
Medical Workers Rush to Help Mother and Newborn
Medical personnel then took control of the situation, carefully supporting the newborn, who was reportedly still connected to his mother through the umbilical cord.
The mother and baby were subsequently transferred onto a stretcher, where healthcare workers kept them warm before cutting the umbilical cord and taking them inside for further medical attention.
Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding the delivery, both survived the ordeal.
The hospital later revealed that the woman had delivered prematurely at approximately 32 weeks of pregnancy, or roughly eight months.
Premature Baby Reportedly in Stable Condition
The newborn weighed approximately 2kg at birth and was reported to have stable vital signs following the dramatic delivery.
Medical staff also administered a hepatitis B vaccination to the newborn, while both mother and child remained under medical supervision following the incident.
It was reportedly the woman’s fourth pregnancy, and she had previously experienced pregnancy-related complications that required hospital treatment.
Despite those concerns and the premature delivery, the hospital reported that both mother and baby were doing well after receiving medical care.
The remarkable birth has attracted widespread attention online, particularly because of how quickly the woman’s labour progressed between leaving home and reaching the hospital.
What began as a desperate motorcycle ride ultimately ended with the family welcoming their newborn slightly earlier — and far more dramatically — than expected.
