In a world where dashcam videos capture the essence of our daily lives, a recent heart-stopping video has highlighted the critical importance of instilling road safety awareness in young children.

This incident, captured on camera, showcases a young primary school student jaywalking across a busy road in the rain and ultimately being hit by a taxi.

The Dashcam Encounter

On a fateful day, the dashcam of a vigilant motorist recorded a nerve-wracking encounter. A young girl, dressed in a primary school uniform, clutched a large umbrella as she stepped onto the rain-soaked streets.

Despite the traffic signal displaying a vivid red man, she continued to jaywalk across the rain soaked road with cars zooming past her.

A Risky Decision

Halfway across the road, the situation took a perilous turn. An approaching lorry slowed down, allowing her passage. However, the intersection concealed a blind spot, and cars continued to rush past the truck, oblivious to the vulnerable student.

It was as if she suddenly realized the gravity of her predicament or, perhaps, feared the fast-moving vehicles. In a moment of panic, she froze.

In a desperate bid to escape the looming danger, the young student reversed her steps abruptly. Oblivious to the approaching yellow taxi, she rushed back towards the point from where she had initially embarked.

Her actions were frantic, and she seemed unaware that she was now heading directly into the path of the oncoming taxi.

As fate would have it, the student collided with the side of the taxi but miraculously avoided a catastrophic accident because the taxi driver had managed to slow down just in time and came to a screeching halt.

Netizens’ comments

  1. It was raining heavily and the kid was holding an umbrella
Definitely affected her judgement due to these circumstances and fear
Could see that the kids still reasonably young, better to be guided by an adult
  2. Not surprising as nowadays you can even see young kids crossing or rushing over red lights at traffic junctions, with their parents teaching or encouraging them to rush across when they are in a hurry. Very common now, drivers pls be extra careful at all junctions or Zebra crossings.
  3. School teachers n parents never teach, don’t play play
