Former Ngee Ann Polytechnic lecturer Tan Boon Lee, who was previously charged with making racist remarks to an interracial couple back in 2021, was sentenced to 5 weeks imprisonment and fined $6,000 on 29 December.

He was also found with 64 obscene videos on his phone.
The former senior lecturer at Ngee Ann Poly’s School of Engineering pleaded guilty to the charges, which included:
- Committed an act that he knew is prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony between different religious groups, and is likely to disturb the public tranquillity at Ngee Ann Poly on 28 July 2017.
- Committing an act that he knew is prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony between different religious groups, and is likely to disturb the public tranquillity on Quora.com (an online forum) between 10 August 2020 and 13 September 2020.
- Uttering racist remarks to Dave Parkarsh on 5 June 2021
- Possession of 64 obscene movies in his phone on 12 June 2021, which Tan had reportedly downloaded online or received from his friends showing women performing explicit activities.
