I never thought I would find myself in this situation, but here I am, sharing a story that I never imagined I would have to tell. It all started on a seemingly normal night out at a Thai disco in Bangkok. I was having a great time, dancing and enjoying the music, when I met a girl. We hit it off and spent the night together, or so I thought.
The next morning, I woke up to a terrifying message from the girl. She told me that I had raped her and that she would report me to the police if I didn’t marry her. I was in shock and didn’t know what to do. I knew that I hadn’t raped her, but I also knew that false accusations of rape were a serious issue.
I quickly realized that I needed to get out of Thailand as soon as possible.
Once I was back home, I hired a lawyer and began to build my case. I had saved all of our text messages and had witnesses who could attest to the fact that our interactions had been consensual. I also learned that the girl had a history of making false accusations against men.
Despite this evidence, I was still terrified of what might happen. The thought of being accused of rape, even falsely, was devastating. I couldn’t sleep or eat, and I struggled to focus on anything other than the looming threat of legal action.
Thankfully, nothing happened and she was just trying to scare me.
