Diners at the hawker centre were having their meals when the rat started running around, and it was caught on camera by one of the patrons.

According to SMDN, the people at the hawker centre said that there are often several rats running around, and they suspect a colony of rats is living in the vicinity.

Ratatouille

One of the customers at the hawker centre saw a baby rat and started recording a video of it, showing the rat running around a man’s feet before going to another table.

The rat then scurried around the woman’s foot before climbing onto her shoelaces, before the woman moved her feet and the rat fled.

Allegedly a common sight

One of the stall assistants working at the food centre, 60-year-old Madam Xiao, said that every morning when she opens the stall, she would see about 3 small rats in front of her stall, with a few bigger ones lurking further away.

She said that the rats would appear more often at night when it’s quiet and that the bigger ones don’t get scared so easily and walk around slowly, they won’t move even if you’re near them.

Regular cleanings

The President of the People’s Park Food Centre Association said that they perform regular cleanings and pest control checks every 2-3 months.

They also have a pest control company performing checks and exterminations every month, and the workers clean the floor and ceiling of the hawker centres every 2-3 months.

The hawkers are also told to clean the premises of their stalls.
