The Health Sciences Authority has approved for Gilead Sciences’ remdesivir to be used to treat seriously ill Covid-19 patients in Singapore. Singapore is currently the only country to get the nod for the usage of the drug to counter the Covid-19 virus.

According to clinical trials, remdesivir is the only treatment so far which has shown positive results which are beneficial to Covid 19 patients.
HSA is currently working hand in hand with Singapore’s Health Ministry and relevant experts to further define the subcategory of patients who will benefit most from this medicine, it said.
Singapore enrolled its first patient in these trials on March 12. Remdesivir was previously only available to patients who have undergone clinical trials.
