Facebook user Cheong Wai Hong said in a Facebook post earlier today that the water pipes of Block 422 Bedok North Road, were allegedly damaged by a reroofing contractor last night (24 August).
As a result, the water supply for residents living on the 13th and 14th floor of the HDB building was allegedly cut off.
He said that they informed the town council, who assured them that technicians and plumbers will be deployed to look into the matter.
However, after the EMSU checked all the pumps and found the water pressure on the rooftop to be normal and purportedly said that there was nothing they could do about it, and to engage their own plumbers.
Cheong added that the residents are having difficulty with the water supply, which is not enough for “basic showering and household chores”.
Here is what he said
“I know of a resident of Bedok north road Blk 422.
Last evening around 4pm the reroofing contractor apparently damage some part of the pipe in the rooftop causing the water pressure to be go down drastically to the extent of no water supply to the whole of floor 13 & 14.
After calling the town council they assure them that they will deploy technicians and plumbers to troubleshoot the issue for them. However, after numerous attempts there is still very little water supply and very weak water pressure.
This morning the EMSU told them that they have checked all the pump and pressure on the rooftop and is normal and to engage their own plumbers this morning because there’s nothing they can do anymore. This is very frustrating as the fault definitely lies in the general water pressure directing to the various units. And this only happened after the damage due to the re-roofing contractor yesterday afternoon.
Account by residents living on top two floors
5pm totally no water supply call EMSU
8-9pm EMSU Ask contractor repair pipe , after the so called repair there is also no water coming into the house
Call EMSU again
10pm send down plumber check the pipe say all ok is the pump problem
Call EMSU again
1225am send down pump man say repair pump by 1.50am
After then until now still very Low pressure.
Call EMSU
7am they advise us to engage our own plumber.
8am call town council town council say send man down but then 12pm pressure Low
12pm find external plumber to check and say the water pressure is too Low compared to other flats they have been to.
We hope the East Coast Town Council can take into account this issue as top priority as the water supply is not enough for even basic showering and household chores. It’s hindering lifestyle and causing great inconvenience.
Thank you”
