A video emerged online and soon went viral, showing a Singapore police officer standing in the pouring rain and watching over a dead body being covered up by a police blue tent.
Netizens commended the respectful police officer for his gesture and the empathy that he displayed towards the deceased’s body.
A video of the incident was posted on TikTok as well as on the Singapore Incidents Facebook page on Saturday (18 March) and Sunday (19 March).
In the video clip, the police officer could be seen walking in the heavy rain and heading towards the blue tents concealing the body at the beginning of the video.
Without an umbrella or raincoat, the police officer walked towards the tent pitched in the middle of a driveway at the bottom of a HDB block that was covering the deceased.
He then took a look inside the tent to make sure that the body was not too drenched by the rain, as he pulled on the corners of the tent before speaking to someone else outside the frame of the video.
Another police officer wearing a yellow raincoat then joins him soon after to help him out, with two other officers holding an umbrella joining in as well.
The group then places an orange-coloured weight on the sides of the tent to hold it down and stop it from moving in the rain.
