A 69-year-old resident, Mdm Tang, spoke to Lianhe Zaobao and said that she was home with her husband and a male tenant when the doorbell suddenly rang.

She then walked to her front gate to answer the door and when she opened the door, she saw a “fat and tall” man outside.

The man claimed that he was looking for a “David” at her home, to which he replied that there was no such person who lived there.

The man then asked her whether the “David” was living upstairs or downstairs.

Mdm Tang then repeated that he had found the wrong place and the man then put his hand through the iron gate and reached out for her, snatching the gold chain that she was wearing around her neck.

The man then fled the scene and ran down the stairs.

Mdm Tang then hurriedly opened her front gate and took the elevator down to chase the man, but by then the man was already no where to be seen.

She then borrowed a neighbour’s phone to call the police.

The elderly woman described her gold chain as having two gold pendants handing from it, one in the shape of a fish and another in the form of a mini abacus.

However, her male tenant later discovered the gold abacus from the gold chain on the ground outside her door, which was believed to have been dropped when the robber was escaping.
