Russia has called on the European Union as well as countries in NATO to stop supplying Ukraine with weapons, as they continue their invasion of the country, according to Russia’s RIA news agency, via Reuters.
Moscow reasoned that they are worried that the portable anti-aerial Stinger missiles being used by Ukraine against Russian attacks, could end up in the hands of “terrorists”.
The missiles are good at countering low flying aircraft, such as helicopters and drones, according to News Nation.
This comes in the wake of the US saying that they had provided the Stinger missiles to Ukraine, among other weapons such as Javelin missiles, anti-tank rockets and ammo, according to Politico.
Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, previously said on 26 February that he had authorised the US Department of Defence to provide $350 million in immediate military assistance to Ukraine.
Today I authorized the @DeptofDefense to provide an additional $350 million in immediate military assistance to Ukraine to help defend itself from Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified war. #UnitedWithUkraine

Along with the US, Germany also previously said that they decided to sent Stinger missiles to help Ukraine, along with Sweden and Finland, who sent weapons as well, according to DW and AFP.
The Netherlands, Estonia, Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia and Lithuania, among other countries, have also sent weapons to help Ukraine, according to The New York Times and Reuters.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has so far seen about 2,000 civilian deaths, according to the Ukrainian State Emergency Service, via The Washington Post.
The United Nations also said that the war has seen more than 1 million people fleeing the country as refugees.
