
According to a media release, a total of S$20 million worth of vouchers will soon be distributed out to 400,000 Singaporean households. These vouchers can be used at neighbourhood shops and hawker stalls for purchases.
The vouchers distributed came under the S$20 million Community Development Council (CDC) Vouchers Scheme, each household will be given a set of S$50 vouchers. These vouchers can be used to redeem food and essential good/services between 25 Jun to 31 Dec 2020.
The adoption of the scheme was announced after DPM Mr Heng Swee Keat budget speech. The vouchers are launched not only to help the lower-income families but also to help the businesses within the local community. A total of 2,500 local business owners and hawkers has signed up to be part of the scheme.
Households that are eligible for the scheme will be notified by the end of July 2020. The vouchers will be distributed by batches to ensure safe distancing measure are observed.
In order to collect the vouchers, anyone in the identified household can bring the letter and NRIC to the designated community centre for collection.
