SBS BUS ENTERED MOTORCYCLE LANE @ WOODLANDS CAUSEWAY, BLOCKS TRAFFIC FOR 45 MINS

In an official Facebook post on Saturday, November 25, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) reported a traffic disruption on the Causeway due to an incident involving a public bus entering the wrong lane. The disruption was noted as of 7 pm and led to unexpected chaos for both car and motorcycle traffic.

According to the ICA’s social media update, motorists were advised to anticipate delays and cooperate with on-site officers to efficiently manage the situation. Visual evidence provided by SG Road Vigilante on Facebook displayed an SBS Transit electric bus at a standstill in the left-most lane of the Causeway, causing a ripple effect on the surrounding traffic.

The visuals also captured several officers present at the scene, one of whom appeared to be engaging with the bus captain. Notably, a photograph highlighted motorcycles lined up behind the bus in a lane distinctly marked for “motorcycles only,” adding a layer of irony to the situation as other lanes appeared free of vehicles.

A vigilant netizen, keen on identifying the source of the bus, revealed that it originated from ITE West. This information brought attention to the BusTech Grand Challenge held that afternoon at the ITE College West Campus in Choa Chu Kang. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) provided clarification, stating that the event involved technicians and students participating in challenges designed to showcase their skills and creativity in addressing land transport issues.

The Facebook page, buses[IN]gapore!, claimed that the bus, intended to return to Seletar Bus Depot, mistakenly ended up on the Causeway. Fortunately, the disruption was efficiently resolved within 45 minutes, as highlighted in an update by the ICA on Facebook at 7.45 pm.
