Here is what SBS Transit Ltd posted on Facebook:

He was horrified by the scene before him as his bus was waiting for the red traffic lights to turn green. On that Sunday afternoon along Marina Boulevard, Bus Captain Ong Shi Chuin was driving Service 400 when he spotted a child about four-year-old wandering barefooted on the five-lane road. She was oblivious that she was in harm’s way.

Realising that the traffic lights would turn green soon and the vehicles would move forward with the child in their path, Shi Chuin made a dash out of the bus to reach the child before the unthinkable could happen.

Thankfully, he managed to reach her in time and carried her safely to his bus. Her frantic parents, who were searching for her, were happily reunited with her shortly after. She had apparently wandered off after playing at a nearby playground. It was indeed a close shave!

“When I stopped at the red traffic light and saw the girl running across the five-lane road, my only thought was that the girl was in danger. I immediately rushed out to carry her on board my bus before the traffic light turned green,” he shared.

Shi Chuin’s quick thinking and action saved the day for the girl and her family. What a hero he is! We are so proud of him.
