A 66-year-old man has been jailed for 15 months on the 09 Jul 2020 for molesting two women.
The man is a self-proclaimed “Spiritual Healer”, he molested his victims while he was performing rituals on them. In the process, the man also took videos of the victims exposed bodies.
The man pleaded guilty earlier this year to two counts each of molestation and insulting a woman’s modesty.
The man has performed massages and exorcism rituals at his bicycle shop where he sold used bicycle and provides repair service.
On 25 May 2019, the man told a 39-year-old woman who was at his shop that he is able to perform a ritual to protect her from “black magic”. After the woman agreed to his offers, he asked her to close her eyes while he lifted her shirt and bra to apply oil on her chest.
The man then took photos and videos of the woman exposed body with his mobile phone.
One month after the incident, the man told another 34-year-old woman that she was possessed and he can help her by performing exorcism ritual on her. He then brings the woman to the back of his shop and asked her to have a T-shirt removed and her herself with a sarong.
While the woman was lying down on a foldable bed, he molested the woman and took a video of the woman’s exposed body.
During the court hearing, the prosecutor requested the court to sentenced the man to 15 months of jail as there is a clear skin to skin contact between the man and his victims.
However, the defence lawyer pleaded the court to impose a fine or jail term not more than six months for his client due to his poor health.
Considering the fact that the prison services are able to manage the man medical needs, the request was rejected.
