A 66-year-old defendant is a senior official of an educational institution who faces indecent assault charges after female colleagues blew the whistle on their superior.
There were two victims involved in this high-level case
- A 43-year-old who claimed that she was indecently assaulted 5 times between March and August 2016.
- Another 55-year-old victim said she was assaulted 5 times between Feb to December 2016.
Due to a gag order to protect the victims, none shall be named.
Due to inconsistencies found in the statement given by the 43-year-old victim, the judge only takes into account 1 charge of outrage of modesty as the statement provided by the 55-year-old is reliable.
The prosecution said this morning (January 4) that the defendant was the immediate superior of the 55-year-old victim and was in a position of higher authority.Â
The defense lawyer also pointed out that the indecent assault did not involve the victim’s private parts. The defendant had no intention of touching the victim’s chest, and the hug between the two only lasted for one or two seconds.
The defense lawyer implored the judge to give him a sentence of a $3,000 fine.
However, The judge adjourned the court and it will continue on the 18th January 2020.
