What can my friend do? (Alleged unfair hiring practices)
Context:
My friend is currently working in the ** sector in a tech related role. So about 6 months ago, there was a top tech company that laid off their entire SG engineering team, they were known to be paying way above market rates for their hires.
The company that my friend works at decided to absorb about 60 (with varied seniority from associates to senior director level) of them, still offering them their old pay and even WITHOUT any interview (my friend say he hearsay only, so IDK if true anot), so this means that these special new hires are being paid about 20% more than what the others are getting.
Heard that they are all placed in a new department. In particular, someone with <6 months of experiences are paid like 20-30% more than their fellow fresh grads and even have a higher job grade than someone with 2-3 years of experience.
He also say that as they were hired in a hurry (hearsay to secure the top talents), there was no concrete plan or work for that team, so they were just bing chilling at work (once again is hearsay)
I feel that the friend should be upset at his management instead of those new hires as who will reject such an incredible offer, especially when you are jobless.
I also feel that there is some serious problems in their hiring process. In the MNC that I work for, when I want to change department, I have to go through the entire process of a new hiring and have obtained a certain minimum grade during performance review.
So my question is can anything be done as my friend felt it was unfair. Is there any platform for him to voice his grievances? Or he can only keyboard warrior, suck it up and go back to work on Monday?
I cannot reveal more details as my friend needs the job.
