Lawrence Wong, the Minister of Education and the Second Minister of the Ministry of Finance, revealed the details of opening of phase three at a press conference today (September 23).
Although he did not say when Singapore will officially bid farewell to phase two, he pointed out that the government is already drawing up a plan and hopes to share more details in a few weeks.
It was revealed that the relevant plan will include relaxation of travel bans and relaxation of more activity restrictions, including restrictions on the number of dine-in and home visits.
Wong also emphasized that the country’s move to stage three is not a “natural” process, but requires the cooperation of all Singaporeans, including strict compliance with all epidemic prevention and safety measures, and the use of epidemic prevention tools such as “TraceTogether”. . The government also needs to continuously improve virus detection capabilities.
