A man who married a foreign spouse, but the child was born in Vietnam. The man is currently seeking advice as his baby is unable to get Singaporean citizenship.
Here is his story:
My Singapore 2nd son, born in Vietnam hospital, with a foreign spouse. As per ICA foreign policy and Vietnamese law, my son has to register as Vietnamese to get the birth cert. I apply within 1 year of a baby born to be Singaporean Citizenship with vietnam birth cert (as required by ICA). After waiting for 2 years, ICA rejects the application. Singapore baby is not automatically become Singaporean if born outside of Singapore with a foreign spouse.
At the time of the extremely low baby rate, Singapore ICA rejected my application. My first son is Singaporean, have to apply too and got it. Because I am now working in Vietnam with low salary, my 2nd son cannot get Citizenship.
There is NO appeal on this. and have to redo the application. Who and where can I get help?Â
