Following Shane Pow being dropped by Mediacorp, his role in the drama, The Heartland Hero, will be taken over by James Seah.
Shane Pow, who was charged with drink driving for the second time and one of the guilty parties present at actor Jeffrey Xu’s illegal birthday party held at Terence Cao’s home which breached Covid-19 safe distancing measures, will fulfil his outstanding commitments until 4 May 2021.
He will be filming until episode 31, with James Seah taking over from him for the remaining 99 episodes.
This is the first time in Mediacorp’s history that an actor has been replaced by another actor halfway through a Chinese drama.
The drama’s producer, Leong Lye Lin, said that the script will not be rewritten to fit Seah into the role.
Seah has since commented on the upcoming replacement plans, saying that it was complicated as Pow is his good friend.
Seah said that he was sad but when Shane heard about it, he was very encouraging and told him that if he needs any help, let him know.
Leong also revealed that she received a text from Pow, apologizing.
