SHARED CAR DRIVER BEATS RED LIGHT, IN A HURRY TO MEET HIS MAKER

A black-colored Honda that purportedly belongs to Shariot Car Sharing, was caught on camera beating a red light.

The incident happened on 15 April at about 6.02pm, somewhere along Jurong East Street 11.

The Honda was seen thundering past a red light at a traffic stop, while the other cars came to a stop at the red light.

Potential penalties

It is an offence to beat a red light in Singapore.

Drivers found guilty of failing to conform to traffic light signals face a composition fine of $400 for light vehicles and $500 for heavy vehicles.

They also face 12 demerit points and if a driver accumulates 24 or more demerit points within 24 months, their license will be suspended.
