Singapore Airlines’ SQ33 service from San Francisco to Singapore was cancelled on Nov 3 after its plane’s wing hit another plane who was on the ground.
The flight was due to depart at 9:50pm San Francisco time, but did not do so after the incident occurred.
An SIA spokesperson, in response to media queries by CNA, said that the Airbus 350-900 which SIA uses to operate the flight, was taxiing for departure when its wing hit another plane which was parked on ground.
It returned back safely to the gate after the incident for inspections and no one on board, passengers or crew, were injured.
The flight was eventually cancelled and engineers proceeded to do their checks on the aircraft.
Passengers who were affected were given accommodation in the form of hotel stays and rescheduled on the next service.
SIA also apologised to their customers who were involved in the incident and said that investigations on the matter are ongoing.
