SIA PILOTS TO TAKE 60% PAY CUT TO SAVE THEIR JOBS

According to a media release. Singapore Airlines pilots will be taking a pay cut between 10% – 60% in order to save their jobs due to the pandemic. The pilots were represented by the Air Line Pilots Association – Singapore (Alpa-S) during the negotiation.

Both parties have come to an agreement that the pay cut will take effect on the 01 Oct 2020 and will end at Mar 2022. The latest pay cut will protect all local jobs at least until Mar 2022.

This come after SIA announcement of cutting 2400 jobs across its entities. The details of the pay cut will be made known to all pilots with an internal circular. The latest agreement will supersede the previous agreement where pilots put cuts were at 13% – 50%.

However, the pay cuts will only restore when the COVID-19 situation become better and flying hours increased.
