A Thai woman in Thailand, Phonchanok Srisunaklua, who is also working as a teacher, filmed herself eating bat soup during a livestream on her YouTube channel Gin Zap Bep Nua Nua, according to The Telegraph.
She was seen ripping apart the animal and chomping down on it, with a few other bats inside a bowl of soup with cherry tomatoes.
She described the taste as being like rat meat, and urged her followers to try it as well, as she held one of the bats up and shows off the animal’s teeth.
She didn’t just stop at eating the bat’s meat, but she also ate its bones as well, describing the bat’s bones as being “so soft”.
She was later arrested by police from the Phon Kaew station in Sakhon Nakhon province, for possession of protected wildlife carcasses, according to Thaiger.
She is facing charges of violating Thailand’s Computer Crimes Act, as well as their Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act (2019).
