The fatal crash occurred along the Jalan Kuching exit ramp of the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), where the luxury vehicle reportedly lost control before colliding with a road divider and catching fire.

According to Malaysian authorities, the Singaporean was seated in the rear of the vehicle and managed to escape with relatively minor injuries. The two other occupants, however, were unable to get out of the burning car in time and tragically lost their lives at the scene.

Vehicle Engulfed in Flames

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at approximately 5:20am. Firefighters arriving at the location found the BMW already engulfed in flames.

Rescue personnel immediately began efforts to save those trapped inside. While one occupant was successfully removed from the vehicle, the remaining two victims were unable to escape as the fire rapidly intensified.

Fire crews eventually extinguished the blaze, but the car was completely destroyed by the intense heat. Authorities described the vehicle as having been severely damaged beyond recognition.

Victims Were University Students

Initial investigations revealed that the BMW was being driven by a 22-year-old Malaysian student who was pursuing studies at the University of Brisbane in Australia.

The front-seat passenger was identified as a 21-year-old student enrolled at Sunway University in Malaysia. Both young men were pronounced dead following the accident.

Due to the extent of the fire damage, officials are carrying out DNA testing to formally confirm the identities of the deceased. Authorities said the identification process is ongoing.

Survivor Suffers Minor Injuries

The Singaporean survivor sustained injuries to his hands and legs but was reported to be in stable condition. He was transported to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for medical treatment shortly after the crash.

Investigators have already recorded his statement as part of efforts to determine exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the collision.

Police are also reviewing available evidence from the area, including CCTV footage, to establish a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Speed Among Possible Factors

Preliminary findings suggest the vehicle may have been travelling at a high speed before the driver lost control.

Authorities believe the impact with the road divider triggered the fire that quickly spread through the vehicle. However, investigators have not yet reached a final conclusion regarding the exact cause of either the collision or the subsequent blaze.

The case remains under active investigation as police work to piece together the events that led to the tragic accident. The incident has also sparked renewed discussion about road safety and the dangers associated with high-speed driving, particularly during the early morning hours when visibility and reaction times can be affected.
