SINGLE MUM FEELS STRESSED & WANTS TO QUIT HER JOB WITH NO BACK UP JOB OFFER

Quitting job with no back up offer

Advertisements

I need some help regarding my career. I badly want to quit my work since April this year due to stressful and lack of motivation but I’m still here.

I really want to quit work and I already saved enough for me and my child (we currently live with my parents). I don’t have a husband eventho I hv a child that’s why I’m having a hard time deciding if I should quit or not.

I already update my resume and tried looking for other job BUT i’m also hving a hard time due to I can’t even go to interview or answer their phone calls due to I have work.

I’m just thinking if I quit now I can have more time attending interviews while taking care of my son.

I don’t know if this is the right decision. Can anyone give some advice 🙁 thank you

  • You mentioned you have saved enough for you and your son, is it adequate to last you for the months that you need to find a job?
Assume you are not looking for jobs in the same industry (healthcare) since the stressful nature is your push factor. In that case, do you have any skills/expertise that you can bring to your intended role? How is the job market in the particular industry? If not ideal, you do have to cater more time to find a job.
If there is an option to take unpaid leave or something, maybe take a break and find a job then.
    All the best!
  • If you want to get a good increment over your current salary / be particular about a convenient location, it will be easier if you find another job while holding on to your current one. It isn’t impossible if you quit first, but you will definitely be more tempted to accept offers that aren’t very good.
    • (OP) This is one of my worries if i quit suddenly. But I really can’t find work while still employed. I’m a healthcare worker and my working hours are long each day. Can’t take leave as well so i rly don’t know. I ofc wanted to got a job offer first but I’ve tried it and the starting date was very soon and I still have to render for notice period.
