Smugglers getting more and more creative.
Now we have cigarettes packed like a sandwich.
ICA officers was able to foil a man’s “breakfast plans” at Woodlands Checkpoint. They uncovered an attempt to smuggle in 32 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes hidden in loaves of bread on 8 Dec morning.

Quote from ICA:
Our officers had observed a traveller at the Arrival Bus Hall carrying four loaves of bread behaving suspiciously. They decided to conduct further checks on him and found the cigarettes sandwiched in between slices of bread.
The case involving a 52-year-old Malaysian man, was referred to Singapore Customs for further investigation.
This method of concealment is a cause for concern as similar methods may be used by people with ill intent to smuggle security items into Singapore. The ICA will continue to conduct security checks on passengers and vehicles so as to safeguard Singapore’s security.
