Snow City Singapore To Shut Down After 26 Years, Final Day Set For Sep. 30

After more than two decades of bringing icy temperatures and artificial snowfall to tropical Singapore, Snow City Singapore will officially close its doors on Sep. 30, 2026.

The announcement was made by the Science Centre Board on May 19, marking the end of one of Singapore’s most recognisable indoor family attractions.

According to the Science Centre Board, the closure comes as part of efforts to keep its attractions “fresh and relevant” amid changing visitor preferences and an increasingly competitive entertainment landscape in Singapore.

The board also said the decision aligns with its long-term science education mission and future redevelopment plans.

“One Last Snowfall” Farewell Campaign Announced

To mark the attraction’s final months, the public will be invited to participate in a farewell campaign titled “One Last Snowfall” from June to September 2026.

During this period, visitors can expect limited-time promotions, themed activities and special packages designed to give families and longtime fans one final experience before the attraction closes permanently.

Among the offers announced is a discounted package that includes one hour of snow play and a bumper car ride. Adult tickets will cost S$19, while children’s tickets will be priced at S$16 — approximately 30 per cent cheaper than the usual admission prices of S$27 and S$23 respectively.

More promotional details are expected to be released through Snow City’s and Science Centre Singapore’s official platforms in the coming weeks.

Popular Attraction Opened In 2000

Located beside Science Centre Singapore in Jurong, Snow City first opened in 2000 and quickly became a popular destination for school excursions, tourists and families looking to experience “winter” without leaving Singapore.

For many Singaporeans, the attraction became a nostalgic childhood memory, especially during school holidays and educational field trips.

The indoor snow centre featured artificial snow slopes, ice-themed activities and sub-zero temperatures that offered a rare escape from Singapore’s year-round tropical heat.

Over the years, it also became a frequent venue for corporate events, birthday parties and tourism campaigns promoting family-friendly entertainment in Singapore.

Staff To Receive Redeployment Support

The Science Centre Board stated that all eight full-time Snow City employees have been offered redeployment opportunities within the organisation.

For staff members who decide to pursue employment elsewhere, the board said it will provide severance support and job transition assistance in line with prevailing Ministry of Manpower guidelines.

The organisation also confirmed that it will honour existing obligations with vendors and business partners during the transition process.

While many Singapore attractions have come and gone over the years, Snow City’s closure is likely to leave a sentimental impact on generations of Singaporeans who grew up visiting the indoor winter playground.
