SON HOLDS 18CM KNIFE AGAINST MOTHER’S THROAT BECAUSE SHE ASKED HIM TO GET A JOB

55-year-old Chen Jinliang, an unemployed man, was sentenced to 12 months of jail after he reportedly held a knife against his 77-year-old mother’s throat and threatened to kill her after she nagged at him to get a job.

on 18 February, the accused bought a pack of beer with his ang pao money and finished the six-pack, while his elderly mother was cooking in the kitchen.

She then noticed that her son, who has been unemployed for 5 years, was loitering around the house, and nagged at him to get a job.

The accused, in a drunken rage, went into the ktichen to push his mother onto the ground, and she knocked over a chair in the process.

She then tried to get back up at least 3 times and everytime she tried doing so, her son kept pushing her back down.

The son then took out 4 knives and placed them onto the kitchen table, one by one.

He then picked up one that was 18cm long and placed it at his mother’s neck, threatening her: “later I will use this knife to slash you to death”.

The mother then stopped resisting upon hearing the threat, and the son also calmed down after that.

The mother then hid the knives in her bedroom after the incident, fearing for her life.

The son then called and police after noticing that his mother was bleeding, and she was determined to have an injury on her head and fractures on her pelvis and thigh, she was hospitalised as a result.
