A video emerged online showing a couple of friends inside a car that was speeding way above the speed limit on an expressway.
The driver was seen on the car’s speedometer speeding at about 219km/hour, as the friend filmed him speeding.
The video was captioned “this is my type of therapeutic, still prefer to be passenger thu (though).”
Speed limit
The speed limit for expressways and tunnels in Singapore ranges from between 80km/hour to 90km/hour, and that driver was speeding more than 100km/hour above the speed limit
For minor offences were drivers exceed the speed limit by 40km/hour or less, they face the possibility of composition fines instead of being prosecuted in court.
For serious traffic offences where drivers exceed the speed limit by more than 40km/hour, the drivers will be prosecuted in court.
Repeat offenders who have been convicted at least twice will face enhanced penalties under Section 67(A) of the Road Traffic Act.
For exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/hour, the driver could face demerit points of 24 and a license suspension of 12 weeks.
