Zainal Abidin Bin Shaiful Bahari, 34-years-old, the Singaporean man behind the racially offensive satire Twitter account “@SharonLiew86”, was sentenced to 3 weeks of jail.
The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) released a statement saying that he had posted multiple racially offensive tweets from early 2019 while “posing as a Singaporean Chinese female.
AGC said that the Twitter account, with a profile picture of a Chinese woman, contained racist tweets that insulted minorities in Singapore.

AGC said that the sentence was “in line with the Prosecution’s submissions that an imprisonment sentence should be imposed”.
They added:
“The Attorney-General’s Chambers takes a serious view of words or conduct which wound the racial feelings of any person or prejudices our racial harmony and community relations.”
Background

The man’s identity was established by officers from the Bedok Police Division on 23 April and he was subsequently charged on 2 July.
Law Minster K Shanmugam also weighed in on the incident at the time.
