Salwal Fadli Bin Jumawal fined $9,500 for possession of assorted processed meat products for the purpose of selling without a valid licence
Salwal Fadli Bin Jumawal, owner of Falah Delight Food, was fined $9,500 by the Court today for possession of assorted processed meat products for the purpose of selling without a valid licence.
2 In October 2021, officers from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) inspected a licensed cold store and discovered approximately 615kg of assorted processed meat products (chicken, lamb and beef) imported without a valid licence. Investigations revealed that the meat products belonged to Falah Delight Food, which leased a space in the cold store. Falah Delight Food does not have a valid import licence. The illegal consignments were seized.
3 In Singapore, food imports must meet SFA’s requirements. Food can only be imported by licensed importers, and every consignment must be declared and accompanied with a valid import permit. Illegally imported food products are of unknown sources and pose food safety risk. Meat and their products can only be imported from accredited sources in approved countries that comply with our food safety standards and requirements.
4 Offenders who import meat products illegally from unapproved sources are liable to a fine of $50,000 and/or imprisonment of up to two years and, in the case of a subsequent conviction, to a fine not exceeding $100,000 and/or to imprisonment of up to three years.
